Baby's Crib

Our house has been up for sale since... March. No luck in getting rid of it yet. Unless by the graces of God we sell our house in the next few months, I really have to start thinking about what I'm going to do with Baby's room!

This is the room that will be Baby's, it's.... gross.

This room is pretty much a catch all right now. I can't tell you how many times I've attempted to turn it into a craft room or office/reading room....whatever. The problem is we have three bedrooms and no basement. Luckily we do have a shed, but I feel we have a lot of stuff we can't store out there due to the elements and all.

One bedroom Dave and I are obviously using and the other is a more organized storage room - my sewing machine, Dave's lame gaming computer, the "linen closet ", the cat's things. I have to figure out how to store everything from both bedrooms in just one bedroom, and leave both bedrooms usable as well. It's a challenge I'm up to :)

I'm starting to get more excited about getting Baby's room ready. I've gotten rid of a lot of stuff out of that room and tonight I'm going to start finagling things I don't want to get rid of into other parts of the house. Next weekend I'm going to rip down the molding and start patching up the walls so I can paint!

Here are some things I'm thinking about for Baby's room. I have a lot of inspiration right now, but nothing set in stone. I don't really do themes... I just want Baby's room to be a colorful, fun place to be :)

Some cute prints by Mary Blair - one of my all time favorite artists! It seems pretty impossible to buy her prints, so I might just have to... print these at Kinko's and frame them myself. I have respect for copyrights, I promise!

Look at this adorable nursery I found on Benjamin Moore's site while shopping for paint colors... I probably won't do anything this elaborate since we likely won't be here that long, but I looove the yellow/orange/brown color scheme. I also want to do darker furniture.

A few odds and ends I just love that I've found while endlessly trolling Amazon for baby things:

1: Owl changing pad cover by DwellStudio │ 2: Sheepskin rug by Rosenberry Rooms. Don't you just want to dig your toes into it? │ 3: Dream on Me Jenny Lind Crib in Espresso. I'm actually torn between this crib and  #4. This crib is actually the crib I had when I was little, just updated to today's safety standards. It's so pretty, but I really hate that it's on wheels! │ 4: Child Craft London Crib in Jamocha │ 5: Lots of bins and baskets in fun prints to keep me organized! │ 6: Owl crib sheets by DwellStudio. I've always had a thing for owl stuff, and it's so trendy right now! I don't know if that is a good thing or not.

Hopefully all my plans don't outdo my wallet! What are some baby things you loved and couldn't do without? I'm always looking for recommendations.

  2. I agree! Dave surprisingly actually has some input on what the baby's room should look like (!), but I'd love to chat about all this goodness with someone who actually knows something about baby things. I'm free most nights this week if you're free at all!

  3. Do you know the origin of the Mary Blair print with the giraffe and lion?

  4. Hi David,

Oh boy, I can't believe I didn't link to the site I found that on! I know I was just searching on Google Images and when I found it I saved it on my computer because I thought it was cute. I tried searching for the sit eI found it on, but no luck. I did find a full version of this print here: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/mary-blair?before=1335155824

  5. I like the patterns that you chose for the walls. The baby would be enjoying it while they're in the nursery.
